There is plenty of adventure for Intermediate paddlers on a trip to Mexico! It’s six straight days of river running, with a focus on improving your boat handling, challenging your abilities in miles of rapids. You will be surprised by how much your paddling will improve in a week.
Our Strong Intermediate trips are ideal for people who are comfortable on the Lower Yough or other class III – III+ water. If you are one of our local students who have taken Intermediate classes, you’re probably ready for this trip. If you are new to Liquid Adventures, please call us to talk about the right trip for your experience.
Strong Intermediate in Veracruz We first go to Tlapacoyan, to paddle various sections of the Filo-Bobos. On one section in a deep canyon of mostly class III and a couple of class IV rapids all, you will see a high waterfall spilling down a hundred feet down the canyon wall. In the evenings we return to our favorite resort in Mexico.
A little later in the week, en route to Coatepec, we can stop at one of the Gulf coast beaches to try a little kayak surfing. We run the Barranca Grande in two days, camping along side the river and continuing the next day through continuous class III+ rapids. On the final day we arrive at the Rio Actopan. This little river gushes out the side of a hill through reeds and bushes in a clear, class III stream of fluorescent-blue water.
Accommodations and meals are at Aventurec, a friendly Ecological resort overlooking the Filo-Bobos or at a small hotel in Coatepec town.
