Alseseca Week

Alseseca Week combines two preoccupations in one week:  We spend much of the week learning and practicing the steep rapids of the Alseseca River.  At other times, we visiting local attractions such as the nearby ruins, several spectacular waterfalls, or a local Zumba dance workout class.  One evening we may go dancing at a Tlapacoyan disco.  The last paddling day is race day, and by then we are well rehearsed on the course.

One paddling day is dedicated to paddling the narrow canyons of the upper Filo-Bobos (class III- IV-).

The last day of the trip is devoted to the Alseseca Race.  Some who know the lines will want to enter the short race and some are ready to take on the long race.  Others are happy to volunteer to help with the race, and others just like to get some sun and be spectators.

It’s a full week with a variety of activities, and it is a great opportunity to interact with the Mexican locals as well as learn some new skills on the river.  Brush up your Spanish, and get your name on the registration list, because it’s also a great price for a week spent in Mexico.

See our blog on the first Alseseca Race Week, and here is a video of the First Alseseca Race.  Also, a video of the Second Alseseca Race.
