Advanced Waterfalls Trip
Our advanced itinerary is designed for solid class IV paddlers who are confident on rivers such as the Upper Yough or the Numbers of the Arkansas, for example. If you are one of our local students who have taken classes at Dickerson, you are probably ready for this trip. If you are new to Liquid Adventures, please call us to discuss the right level for you.
Our November Waterfalls Trip is located in the Sierra Madre mountains of the state of San Luis Potosi around Cuidad Valles. Around the city is a cluster of extraordinary rivers, where you can experience what it means to go vertical: the Micos Cascadas, El Salto, Verde, Ojo Frio, and Santa Maria. Here is a Trip Report and photos from 2011.
Strong Intermediate Waterfalls Trip
There is plenty of adventure for Intermediate paddlers on a trip to Mexico! It’s six straight days of river running, with a focus on improving your boat handling, challenging your abilities in miles of rapids. You will be surprised by how much your paddling will improve in a week.
Our Strong Intermediate trips are ideal for people who are comfortable on the Lower Yough or other class III – III+ water. If you are one of our local students who have taken Intermediate classes, you’re probably ready for this trip. If you are new to Liquid Adventures, please call us to talk about the right skill level for your experience.
The first day we spend in transit, getting to know one another and seeing the sights on our way to our resort home. The next day is a warm-up day and assessment of individual skills and goals.
In the state of San Luis Potosi, we start on the clear waters of Micos Cascadas with a series of slides and small falls. You will be introduced to the technique of paddling waterfalls. There is plenty of easy and fun practice boofing down the many falls and landing comfortably. We stay at a beautiful, eco-resort at the take-out of the Micos. Our other rivers for the week are the Ojo Frio, Tampoan, and El Salto – all clear and aqua-colored travertine waters.
