Spring Break Trip
West Virginia
There’s no better whitewater in the country than right in our own backyard—the state of West Virginia. In summer, many of the best rivers are hard to catch with enough water. But in the springtime, they can always be counted on to be flowing. Beyond Liquid Adventures will be paddling for 6 days all over the state of West Virginia (and some in Western Maryland), looking for those seldom-run tributaries, as well as enjoying the great, classic rivers.
Rivers are class III – IV and may include the Lower Yough, the Cheat, the Middle Fork of Tygart, Laurel Fork of Cheat, High Falls of the Cheat, the New, and the Big Sandy – last year’s favorite. All that is required is to have a good roll in whitewater, a level of comfort on Lower Yough – type whitewater, a spirit of adventure, and some cold-weather equipment.
Trips are led by Tom McEwan, passionate outdoorsman who is known in the Washington area for his whitewater programs for youth. His coached programs have been called “guided ventures for self discovery.” You will find a whole new level of confidence after this week in West Virginia.
Prices: The cost of $625 includes breakfast and lunch. Paddlers bring about $70 for evening meals in restaurants.
Registration: Please use the online registration, establish a logon, leave your contact information, and look for “West Virginia Youth Trip” in the list of events. An equipment list, waiver and health form will be sent to you by return mail.
