Level 4 – Intermediate River Running


In this course we will explore the nether regions of the Potomac River near DC, from just below Great Falls down to Little Falls.  We will go where the water is best for the group, which could be Sandy to Anglers , Little Falls, or other river sections.  This catchall class can focus on anything from wave surfing to refining that eddy turn.  Your experienced instructor will work with you in easier flat to moving water for the first part of the class to get to know you and your paddling and the lesson plan will flow from there.

Who: Intermediate paddlers who are graduates of our classes or who simply wish to improve their river-running technique and confidence

What: 4 hour-long classes in which individuals are encouraged to use their own initiative and judgment to paddling class II-III rapids under the guidance and coaching by our expert instructors

Where and when: Saturdays from 1 to 5pm from May through October at Angler’s Inn. Check calendar for which Saturday’s.  Be sure to arrive early, so we can plan a shuttle for the river section we are using.

What to bring: You can bring your own boat and equipment or borrow ours.  See what to bring for details.

Cost: $90 per class, 3 classes for $240, take as part of the 4 lesson package or take as part of the Int PLP

Prerequisites: Advanced Beginner River Classes or equivalent: moving water roll, comfort executing ferries, eddy turns and peel outs, basic understanding of river features, basic safety techniques such as bow rescue and swimming in rapids.
