Classes for Intermediates
Trips for Intermediates |
Below Great Falls, the Potomac passes through a stretch of class II-III rapids that is enjoyed daily by a passionate white water community. The whole river rushes through the 50-foot-wide Mather Gorge filled with waves, boils, and play features.
You can experience this turbulent piece of Nature with a few basic skills and a little expert instruction in our Intermediate Program. You will learn precision in your paddling, reading the water, scouting rapids, making good decisions, and choosing your line. We can also help you develop basic playboating skills to increase your comfort and enjoyment in whitewater paddling.
The intermediate classes will bring your paddling up to a new level and prepare you for river trips such as the Lower Yough or Cheat Rivers! Our intermediate program includes river running skills and playboating skills, knowing that one skill set strengthens the other.
