Rolling on the River


Developing a reliable roll in all river conditions is a key step to progressing as a paddler and to enjoying your days on the water. For those who need to work on building confidence in your roll, here is your chance. These clinics offer rolling practice and coaching in both flat and moving water. If you’ve already mastered a flat water roll, why not work on a combat roll, off-side roll or a hand roll? In wintertime we move our rolling practice to an indoor pool.

Who: Beginners and Advanced Beginners to Low Intermediates

What: 2 hour-long workouts covering

  • Flatwater rolling practice for basic technique, off-side rolls and hand rolls
  • Combat rolling, i.e. rolling in current

Where and when: Thursdays from  6-8 pm, at  Anglers Inn or Lock 6. 
Saturdays from 3-5 pm at Anglers. During the warm months that have evening light: late May through September.

What to bring: You can bring your own boat and equipment or borrow ours. See what to bring for details.

Cost: $65 per class, or $180 for three.

Prerequisites: Must have taken Foundations: Level 1 class and completed a wet exit.
