Level 1 – Foundations

With friendly and experienced ACA certified instructors, you will start by learning the proper fit for your gear and boat. We introduce you to safety concepts for kayaking. Then you start out paddling on calm water, learning step by step the basic strokes and how to propel yourself. A variety of creative, on-water activities help you master these necessary skills. You will amaze yourself with your ability to explore the islands and backwaters of the Potomac even on the first lesson.  This class is part of our beginner progressive learning package(PLP).
